OpenAdvisor Terms of Use

Last updated: 2026-04-21

OpenAdvisor (the "Service") is a community-run platform for anonymous, user-contributed reviews of research advisors and mentors. The Service is provided as-is, with no warranty. By using the Service you agree to these terms.

1. Your reviews

You retain ownership of the reviews you post. By posting you grant the Service a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to display, archive, and moderate your review. You represent that what you write reflects your own first-hand experience and complies with the Community Guidelines.

2. Prohibited content

You may not post content that is unlawful, defamatory, threatening, or which identifies third parties without consent. You may not post factual accusations of crime or professional misconduct; such accusations belong in institutional or legal channels.

3. Moderation & removal

We moderate every submission before publication. We may edit for formatting, redact identifying details, or reject a submission for any reason. We may also remove published content later, including in response to legal notices.

4. No accounts

We do not offer user accounts. You post under a pseudonym and retain access to edit or delete via a one-time author token shown after submission. If you lose that token, you cannot recover access.

5. No warranty, no liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any damages arising out of your use of the Service or reliance on content posted on it.

6. Changes

We may update these terms. Continued use of the Service after an update constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
